About The Role: The Development Coordinator will develop and implement a strategic plan to raise vital funds for Safe Place International. The Development Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to oversee and manage all fundraising efforts and associated team members, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and informed in the process. The Development Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, Development Committee, Founder, and Board members to move a full spectrum fundraising plan forward in a way that addresses immediate cash flow needs and long term financial sustainability. This role requires an awareness of issues vital to the global LGBTQIA+ community and to women.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic development plan along with the Board and Executive Director that includes individual donors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Work in concert with the Executive Director and Founder to cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate partners in order to increase engagement, individual and corporate gifts, in kind donations, and opportunities for partnership.
  • Oversee the maintenance and growth of our donor base in collaboration with other development contractor(s) and ensure the accurate and timely tracking, recording, reporting, and recognition of all donations.
  • Work in concert with other SPI staff to deliver clear and compelling content to donors, supporters, and potential supporters via social media, email communication, press releases, development of collateral, etc.
  • Develop and engage regional volunteer steering committees in the creation and execution of fundraising events, such as dinners, house parties and happy hours. Ensure follow up and assessment of events to effectively engage with new supporters.
  • Oversee grant writing and management.
  • Lead and support the Development Committee to assist with achieving organizational revenue goals.
  • Provide professional expertise and direction to the Board of Directors on all aspects of fundraising.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director and meaningfully participate in staff, leadership, and planning meetings, preparing reports and projections as needed.
  • Utilize platforms adopted by SPI (e.g. Google Suite, Slack)
  • Help build a workplace culture that is anti-racist, inclusive, equitable, trauma-informed, and team member-centric.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

What Else You Should Know:

This role is a remote volunteer position. There is no fixed location requirement, but the Academic Partnership Coordinator must be available to meet and collaborate with team members located primarily in North America, Europe, and Africa. It requires some nontraditional work hours, including occasional travel and possible evening and weekend hours for fundraising events.

Compensation: Living stipend, travel budget, and possible accommodation in Athens, Greece
