Development Associate

RST

The Development Associate works as part of a statewide development team to increase RSTs financial capacity to achieve our mission. Working in conjunction with the Senior Director – Development, Marketing and Communications Manager, Grants Manager and local Volunteer Coordinator and Area Director, the Development Associate will take the lead in cultivating and stewarding donor relationships in their designated geographic area (Houston, Austin, or Dallas/Fort Worth). This role requires experience in a variety of fundraising practices.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assuming the primary leadership role for fundraising in a designated geographic area
  • Prospecting and cultivating new individual, corporate, foundation, and faith-based donors
  • Stewarding current donors and communicating gratitude through regular written communication, phone calls, meetings, and identifying other opportunities to include them in the agencys work
  • Facilitating site visits for potential and current donors
  • Identifying and participating in networking opportunities and speaking engagements to raise awareness of RSTs work in the community
  • Hosting entry events to introduce prospective supporters to RSTs work
  • Assisting with the local promotion of state-wide and local fundraising campaigns
  • Leading the planning and facilitation of local fundraising events
  • Assist with grant writing, local program reporting, and identifying local grant opportunities
  • Compiling data, images and stories to be used in marketing
  • Play a leadership role in developing and facilitating local advisory councils.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in issues pertaining to refugees, human trafficking, displaced populations, and/or human rights
  • Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising through various methods including donor cultivation and stewardship, grant writing, event planning, etc.
  • Public speaking skills
  • Ability to work as a team, and also to take initiative by generating new ideas and running with them with little supervision
  • Great communication skills, including ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Professional demeanor and comfortable interacting with a variety of stakeholders including clients, corporations, foundations, and various faith communities
  • Willingness to travel locally and at times statewide
  • Flexible schedule with occasional weekends and evenings; remote work available 2-3 days per week at the discretion of the Senior Director of Development
  • Attention to detail
