UNPAID INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Development and Engagement Fall Intern

Part-time: 10 hours per week

Temporary 3.5 months – Sept 1 to Dec 15, 2022

Grade: Internship

Supervisor: Supporter Engagement Manager

Home Post: Washington, DC Headquarters Office (Currently Remote)

Summary:

The Invisible Children (IC) Development and Engagement Intern will be a central member of the Development and Communications Department. Under the direction of the Supporter Engagement Manager, the Development and Engagement Intern will work collaboratively with colleagues in the United States and central Africa to assist with developing mass as well as custom communications, helping implement the donor stewardship plan, and running of the day-to-day operations of the development and communications team. They will gain valuable experience in a non-profit setting and a busy development and communications team.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Research prospect foundation and individual donors and create donor profiles.
  • Assist with development of institution and foundation proposals, as needed.
  • Work with the Supporter Engagement Manager to ensure proper stewardship of donors including drafting acknowledgement letters, communicating with donors via phone and email, and documenting donor communications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor information in Funraise Giving Software and Salesforce CRM.
  • Contribute ideas to fundraising appeals and assist with writing appeals.
  • Use Mailchimp to create email appeal campaigns and templates.
  • Support implementation of general communications by scheduling and monitoring social media using Sprinklr.

  • A positive and thoughtfully optimistic person**.** You’re always ready to think creatively to achieve your goal.
  • Proficiency in French is a plus but not required.
