The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Gaziantep, Turkey.

As Deputy Head of Finance you will support the Head of Finance to implement existing financial management standards in the Country Office and across the projects in Turkey, Syria and Lebanon, efficiently and timely, thereby making a significant contribution towards the success of the programme work.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensuring orderly financial and material planning (bank transactions, accounting, budget control, equipment) and internal project settlement.
  • Supervision of Project Finance Experts, instructing and supporting projects and project partner organisations (PPO) in financial management
  • Monitoring the status of monthly project closure, booking international staff cost sharing and overview of project closure activities in the financial system including KPI’s
  • Ensure costs are cleared internally within projects and between projects (correct allocation of costs)
  • Overseeing the annual reporting towards Head office including preparing annual account documents in cooperation with the Head of Project and the Country office
  • Preparation of final financial reports and financial statements including CO budget.
  • Budgeting for new projects/changing budgets in running projects
  • Support in external/internal audits and accounting reports and checking the implementation of appropriate recommendations and requirements through audit recommendation tracker
  • Participation in partner capacity assessments

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnical degree in accounting
  • at least 5 years professional experience working in similar roles with International NGOs
  • Experience of managing/supervising and coaching a large team
  • Ability to work in a team with strong communication and mentorship skills
  • A high level of mental and physical resilience and willingness for duty trips in rural areas with unstable security situation
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Good command of English. German, Arabic or Turkish skills are an asset
