The Opportunity

The Deputy Director of Resource Mobilization and NBD has overall responsibility for cultivating, building, and providing strategic leadership to SC Yemen on raising sustainable funding resources. These sources encompass a wide range and number of key constituencies and development partners, that includes country office/s, existing and prospective and emerging donors/institutions, multi-laterals, UN agencies, various inter-governmental bodies etc.

S/he will take responsibility to identify and follow up on linkages between donor strategies, member/funding office interests and country office priorities, and will play a key role in facilitating smooth communication between all stakeholders. The incumbent will be responsible for the formulation of the funding strategy for Yemen country office and be responsible for identifying funding opportunities and matching them to program needs. S/he will be accountable for reaching fundraising targets, ensuring the development and timely submission of high-quality project proposals as well as working in close collaboration with thematic area technical teams and other departments.

S/he will lead a team of highly motivated professionals to achieve results on resource mobilization and communication.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in senior management role out of which 5 years INGO experience with excellent grasp of operational issues.
  • Master degree in relevant field
  • Sound knowledge of the requirements of major institutional donors including key strategies, ways of working, eligibility issues, compliance management, and reporting.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic support across multiple sectors and/or regions.
  • Proven experience of establishing and running the resource mobilization, new business development, donor relationship management etc. function in the field.
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Action-oriented analytical skills; demonstrated experience in setting up and maintaining quality assurance /funding management systems
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a demanding workload comprised of diverse and challenging tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience of engaging with donors at country strategy levels.
  • Experience of and well-developed skills in staff management and supervision with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Proven strong coaching and capacity building skills.
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in managing multicultural teams
  • Computer literate (i.e. WORD, advanced Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, financial systems).
  • Patient, adaptable, flexible, culturally aware and able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure

  • Able to use PowerBI and other relevant analytical tools/software
  • Experience of Project Management, M&E Management or Funding Coordination
