Summary of Position

IREX seeks qualified Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded Bangladesh Integrated Youth Activity (BIYA), which will empower youth to advance their economic and democratic opportunities by building skills through appropriate training and linkages with the private sector. The activity aimed at enabling youth to better contribute to Bangladesh’s inclusive, resilient social and economic growth, will be accomplished using a cross-cutting, multi-sectoral approach. The activity will empower youth and strengthen the capacity of government and non-government community-based organizations to address youths needs and provide quality, relevant services. This will include youth better able to support communities affected by natural disasters resulting from climate change. The DCOP will support the Chief of Party in the management of the program and provide high-quality technical inputs to achieve all program objectives.

Only citizens of Bangladesh or residents with work authorization will be considered. This position is contingent on funding.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support and advise the Chief of Party and other project staff on various technical tasks related to the project
  • Facilitate dialogues and collaboration with the private sector to develop activities which build youth skills
  • Support creation of linkages, networks, and coalitions as needed
  • Represent the project publicly
  • Other duties, as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bangladeshi citizenship or residency with work authorization is required
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience in Bangladesh
  • Thorough understanding of the private sector in Bangladesh
  • Experience on international donor-funded projects strongly preferred
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with senior government officials; youth groups; media, civil society, and private sector leaders; international donors; and other stakeholders
  • Proven experience facilitating collaboration across sectors and building consensus among diverse actors
  • Experience with public-private partnerships
  • Experience in private sector engagement, workforce development, business and livelihoods, education, diaspora engagement or other related fields
  • Strong writing, representational, and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; master’s degree preferred
  • Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English is required
