Chemonics seeks a Deputy Chief of Party position for the anticipated USAID-funded RDMA Partnerships for Asia Green Investment Activity. The program will focus on employing nature-based solutions across Southeast Asia to achieve greater emissions reductions, climate resilience, biodiversity protection, inclusiveness, and benefit sharing. This Activity will advance systemic change in the agricultural, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector in the region to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at meaningful scale through inclusive and sustainable approaches, accelerating the region’s transition to net zero economies. In addition, the activity will improve biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and human well-being as additional outcomes. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. This position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Chief of Party and other key personnel to promote a coherent and strategic vision for the implementation of the project with buy-in from USAID and counterparts and stakeholders
  • Support the development of a pipeline of investment ready climate-smart projects and businesses across the region and matching those in the pipeline with investors
  • Facilitate project work planning with the proper staffing and resources to reach indicators and targets.
  • Lead the development of interventions to increase sustainable and scalable investments in low emission land use and AFOLU supply chains, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience
  • Work to promote the adoption and implementation of credible environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards for low emission, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience investments
  • Develop interventions to improve inclusive and equitable benefit sharing to local communities and smallholders from values generated by these investments and standards

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or advanced degree in a relevant field such as finance, economics, environmental studies, public policy or other relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the climate finance sector; climate change mitigation and adaptation; AFOLU supply chains; green investment; nature conservation; green financial instruments and/or green banking tools
  • Demonstrated experience working with key climate finance institutions include but not limited to: Green Climate Fund, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Global Environment Facility, etc.
  • Experience leading or working in a management role on a USAID or other donor-funded teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with U.S. and host-country senior government personnel, donor partners, U.S. and local vendors, and the NGO/private sector.
  • Experience working in Thailand and/or other regional countries strongly preferred
  • Proven success working with and leading teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
