The incumbent serves as the Deputy Assistant Administrator to the Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Global Health who serves as the principal advisor to the Agency and the Administrator on broad technical and operational matters relating to the mandate of the Bureau. The Bureau for Global Health (GH) is the Agency’s center of excellence and focal point in providing worldwide leadership and technical expertise in the areas of: child and maternal health; nutrition; HIV/AIDS; infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, and pandemic influenza; population, family planning and related reproductive health; water, sanitation and hygiene; and health systems.

The incumbent focuses on administration, planning, procurement, personnel, monitoring and evaluation and budgeting and complements additional DAA/GH health positions. The incumbent is responsible for Bureau direction with respect to implementing USAID Forward, strengthening and overseeing administrative processes and systems for strategic budgeting aligned with Bureau priorities, strategic review of core procurements, streamlining planning and reporting, talent management and alignment of health staff with Agency priorities, and internal communications of Bureau priorities and activities with Bureau, regional and mission staff.
