Defence Digital – Behavioural Interventions Lead

UK Ministry of Defence

In order to respond effectively to the human dimension of cyber-security risk, Defence delivers a broad program of work which focuses on impacting identified risky behaviours, both directly and measurably.

The Behavioural Interventions work-stream of the Cyber Awareness, Behaviours and Culture (CyAB&C) team, achieves this by delivering an annual program of interventions against a set methodology. Each intervention targets a single behavioural objective within a single target audience and seeks to measurably impact that risk within a set timeframe.

The CyAB&C Interventions Lead is primarily responsible for driving this program of work forward, ensuring its quality and timely delivery, by drawing on the resources of a client-side support team of contractors. As a behavioural science subject matter expert, the Interventions Lead will offer expert insight into all stages of the intervention process. At their own discretion, this may range from simple critical stage reviews, through to leading fieldwork and steering the construction, delivery and measurement of interventional components. As such, there is likely to be a requirement for frequent travel within the UK and occasional international travel.

Upon completion of an intervention, effective and reusable interventional components are transferred to the CyAB&C catalogue. This allows for practical reuse of interventional tools by offering rapidly deployable opportunities for influencing risky behaviour. The CyAB&C Interventions Lead owns the CyAB&C catalogue, balancing annual delivery of new interventions with the scheduling and continuing application of developed products, such as Malicious Floorwalker (MFw), phishing and Smishing exercises.

In addition to this, the CyAB&C Interventions lead is also responsible for the annual delivery of the Priority Risk Behaviours List (PRBL) exercises and ongoing development of the behavioural intervention methodology and practices.

Currently we are a small, highly specialised team and have exciting plans for growth, so now is a great time to join us and become part of the journey!
