Hours: Monday – Friday (35 hours per week) potential to work from home for 2/3 days a week
As a Debt Recovery Assistant, you will contribute to our vision of being the UKs favourite property manager by:
- Being responsible for taking action against leaseholders owing Service Charge and/or Ground Rent arrears on the entire portfolio managed by FirstPort (or any external contracts which may be secured for debt recovery) after the Credit Control team have completed the arrears process.
- Aiding the process of recovering outstanding arrears from referral to recovery stage or up to the stage where legal proceedings are required.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure that the Leaseholders/Freeholders accounts referred to them for debt recovery action are managed effectively.
- To ensure the financial (and other) data maintained in the property management system is both accurate and up to date and the department runs in accordance with company policies and within the required legal guidelines.
- Assisting in debt collection and ensuring that service charge and ground rent arrears are collected in a timely manner in accordance with both company and legal policies.
- Checking of referred accounts to ensure the same have followed the Credit Control process correctly
- Carrying out Land Registry searches and cross-referencing data
- Checking Lease/TP1 documents for interest rates and calculating late payment interest on arrears
- Sending of Letters Before Action / Claim Warning Letters
- Corresponding with Leaseholders via letter, telephone and/or email
- Agreeing payment plans and monitoring the same
- Monitor and manage incoming payments
- Take credit/debit card payments over the telephone
- Correspond with mortgage companies both before and after proceedings are issued
- Accurate scanning and filing of letters/court documents
Skills And Experience

- Computer literacy (particularly Excel) is essential

- Previous experience in an accounting or property management-based environment would be an advantage
