Database Engineer (m/f/x)

As Database Engineer, you will

• Ensure that our databases are set up in the best way to meet the needs of our applications
• Be a mentor for the software developers and help them understand how to get the best out of their code when interacting with the database
• suggest performance optimization and advise on scaling
• help product teams build better schemas, models and queries
• Work with our senior staff engineers on the right system architecture with regards to data storage.
• consider security in every decision
• monitor the performance and usage of the databases
• know when (not) to use an ORM

Your Background, you…

• have 3+ years of professional experience as somebody being responsible for databases (PostgreSQL is a huge plus)
• have hands-on experience on migration strategies
• have knowledge of backup and replication tooling and strategies
• have experience with Cloud Databases (AWS and RDS are a plus)
• have in-depth knowledge of SQL and understand performance and scaling of PostgreSQL
• know the monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus
• have experience creating technical documents
• are fluent in English, German is a plus
• Knowledge in IT Security is a plus
