This includes a portfolio of large and complex third-party monitoring (TPM) projects and evaluation services, in addition to assurance services, including financial and systems audits, certifications, internal control assessments, and technical assistance to international institutions.

Scope of Work

BDO is presently looking to expand its pool of experts suitable for Data Visualization Specialist roles. This pool will be used to resource existing and pipeline TPM contracts. TPM activities will be varied, capturing contextual developments, implementation progress, adherence to quality standards, and program effectiveness across diverse international development and humanitarian portfolios of work. As a Data Visualization Expert, you will lead the development and implementation of interactive and static visualizations for various outputs. Your expertise in dashboard will be instrumental in effectively communicating complex information to stakeholders. Full-time and part-time positions are available, contingent upon award. This position is remote.

Terms of Reference

  • Collaborate with the project teams and stakeholders to understand their requirements and visualization needs to provide recommendations on visualization strategies and approaches.
  • Translate complex datasets into visual representations (ie. dashboards) that effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop maps to convey key monitoring findings and temporal trends.
  • Contribute to the development of data processing and reporting workflows and associated guidance documents.
  • Present dashboards and other data visualization products to end users and train them on their use for exploring data insights and trends.

Your Experience and Expertise

  • Degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or other relevant discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience in data visualization.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerBi or equivalent software.
  • Knowledge of QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • Strong understanding of research methodologies, quantitative data analysis techniques, data visualization principles and design aesthetics.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent programming languages preferred.
  • Experience working in working in emergency response, international development, stabilization, peacebuilding, or a related sector preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills and ability to multitask with tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
