Location: The successful candidate may be based in a country where one of the independent National/Regional Greenpeace organisations (NRO’s) is located (subject to agreement). Are you an expert data leader who enjoys taking big picture organisational strategy and working with stakeholders to create robust data strategy and roadmaps? Greenpeace International is looking for a Data Strategy Manager to join our global data team.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape our data strategy through a combination of advising, collaboration and consulting with our regional offices spread across 55 countries. You will have the opportunity to work with diverse teams and projects while making an impact in one of the world’s largest environmental organisations.

As part of the larger Data, Insights and Engineering teams at Greenpeace International you’ll help modernize and revolutionize how data is used to create meaningful change in the world.

Our data teams aim to provide a holistic approach to data work in support of our regional offices; through building as well as supporting data tools & platforms, standards & Governance, convening trainings & communities for specialists, as well as consulting and advising.

Most importantly all of this work must be guided by well thought out, culturally appropriate and contextual aligned data strategy. And that’s where you come in…

*This is a 2 year project position with funding secured for this period, the role is initially offered on a 12 month contract basis with possibility of extension to at least 2 years (subject to local labour law).

What we’re looking for:

Remember no one has every skill or experience needed for this role and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot from the team. We believe someone who has a few of these is well suited to excel:

  • Significant experience in a Data Strategy development or leading Data Strategy Implementation
  • Leading change management processes within a large or multinational organization
  • Significant experience or training : technical data systems, business, strategic planning, data governance, fundraising or managing advocacy organisations
  • Strong facilitation skills with ability to design processes & workshops for executive stakeholders
  • Broad knowledge of current business and engagement technology including: CRM, Web Analytics, Fundraising, Marketing or Monitoring Evaluation & Learning
  • Knowledge of specific data technologies and how they fit into organisational strategy from analytics, warehousing, data engineering, data governance
  • Diverse culture experience, particularly across different levels of an organisation
  • Support for and belief in the core aims and values of Greenpeace.
