The Data Insight & Analytics Team within Asda Technology is supporting one of the largest retail transformations in Europe and driving the delivery of new advanced data capability through new technology, processes, and governance, in service of empowering a data-driven culture and the delivery of inspiring data products that facilitate the exploitation of data assets across Asda.

The Role

As our Data Quality Manager, you will be helping to build, implement and mature ASDA Data Quality Framework, as well as leading an emerging team of Data Quality Analysts, in collaboration with the colleagues in the Data Management and Governance function, and supporting the Senior Manager with the strategic thinking and leadership to further Data Quality practices at ASDA in line with external and internal policies and processes.

As a team leader, you will be pro-actively engaging colleagues around ASDA about the benefits of treating data as an asset and working with colleagues around the business to ensure data owners and stewards are empowered with the mechanisms to enable and encourage pro-active monitoring of the quality of the data in their domains, leading to early identification of issues and adequate and prompt resolution of these. You should understand the meaning and use of data in a business context, supporting the Data Quality Analysts and technical teams (data architects, engineers, delivery managers) in the implementation of best Data Quality practices, leveraging the momentum created by the transformation programme; and the execution of data quality checks in the delivery of ASDA new data ecosystem; overall cementing the building blocks to design and implement the future Data Quality Issue Management framework in collaboration with our service management team. You will therefore be responsible for; ensuring appropriate data quality management is in place, including issue identification, logging, route cause analysis and processes for resolution and defining, measuring, tracking, and communicating the benefits of great data quality management.

About You

  • You are a strong communicator, collaborator and facilitator, able to work with and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • You have a solid background in embedding data quality, in line with management and governance practices, and a track record of delivering measurable benefits and tangible outcomes.
  • You have working experience of DQ frameworks, tools, and technologies. Experience on the implementation and integration of these within a Microsoft Azure environment would be advantageous.
  • You have significant line management experience, having led small to medium size teams previously, therefore you are able to coach, guide and support junior members in the team to develop, excel and reach their potential
  • You are technically savvy with a good understanding of the data Lifecyle and the practices to build, develop and maintain large data environments, therefore able to ember DQ within the wider design of data solution and data delivery practices
