UK HYDROGRAPHIC OFFICE

If you offer experience of working in a legal, data protection or comparable governance environment, this position offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing Information Security team and play a key role working on the delivery of data protection activities for a world leading organisation.

About UKHO

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world’s oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.

The role

You will primarily focus on the delivery of data protection activities, including responding to subject access requests. You will also assist with the continual improvement of assurance activities and associated training and awareness campaigns.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Administering the UKHO’s Article 30 Register
  • Liaising with teams across the UKHO to record and track all personal data that UKHO handles
  • Assisting project managers and system owners to identify personal data risks, using Data Privacy Impact Assessments
  • Coordinating responses to Data Subject Access Requests
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of the Information Security and Assurance awareness programme
  • Assisting with internal audit planning and hosting external auditors
  • Assisting with the administration of the UKHO’s Information Asset Register

You will need to be able to adapt quickly to address new problems and make effective decisions while delivering at pace. You will also be expected to contribute towards making changes and improvements, helping to ensure we maintain a high-quality service. A high level of discretion and good communication skills are equally important.

If you are open-minded and keen to learn and develop yourself working with a growing Information Security team who work in a collaborative way to support each other and share knowledge, we would be delighted to hear from you.

In return

UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard to beat.
