Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Transition and Recovery Division and the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator (DTM) and in close coordination with National Information Management Officer for DTM, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing and generating DTM analytical products.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the analysis process of DTM products (reports, factsheets, dashboards, etc.) on a variety of topics, including evolving needs of a displaced population, migration dynamics, drivers, modalities and vulnerabilities in Iraq.
  2. Contribute to the development of rigorous methodologies and assessment tools to fit both requirements at the country level and comparability of the collected data at the regional level.
  3. Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis to facilitate the production of high quality DTM products.
  4. Contribute to the development of appealing and user-friendly data visualizations.
  5. Support and participate in DTM programme meetings and gatherings with partners/clusters to facilitate wide dissemination of DTM products.
  6. Closely collaborate with the Information Management team, DTM Officers, Reporting Officer, Graphic Designer and DTM partners to facilitate the timely implementation of activities.
  7. Provide trainings for the Rapid Assessment and Response Teams (RARTs) on relevant methods of data collection, definitions and trends.
  8. Ensure that data collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination are in line with IOM’s data protection principles.
  9. Undertake duty travel pertinent to the DTM activities.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in applied data analytics and visualization using STATA, SPSS or R;
  • Experience in data collection, research, and report writing;
  • Experience in the development and implementation of population databases is an advantage;
  • Experience in relevant issues such as migration, displacement, and humanitarian assistance would be an asset; and,
  • Experience working in conflict and post conflict settings.

Skills

  • Strong background in migration research;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Strong computer background, including experience with relational databases, Microsoft applications, spreadsheets, and word processing;
  • Familiarity with the Iraqi context or similar contexts is an advantage; and,
  • Familiarity with programmatic issues surrounding relief to recovery transition, including good understanding of early recovery principles.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian or Chinese).

For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances. This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
