Introduction

Introduction

Are you a bachelor or master student in Data Management, Data Science, Data Analytics or similar? Are you tactical thinker with strong analytical skills and an affinity in Big Data Analytics? Then this internship could be interesting for you!

Background information

Phase 1

There is a lot of data on field processes and performance available spread across multiple databases. The Field Operations (FO) regional teams often request datasets or combinations of datasets that they would like to analyze or report on. Often these datasets need to be generated manually by combining multiple sources which results in manual work from the central team.

However, in most cases, the field teams already have access to the data, but they do not have the tools to export it and combine the different sources to get the data they need to analyze or report on

Phase 2

To ensure tools in the local warehouses are usable and available, various corrective local tool maintenance processes are in place of which the combined performance is measured per region in the FO Tool usability Key Performance Indicator (KPI). To meet this KPI, 99.5% of all tools in the field need to be (1) usable and available or (2) in a corrective process to become usable within the agreed lead time for that process. The performance of this KPI is continuously lagging at some regions and process execution differs per location.

Your assignment

As an intern you will support the Field Operations (FO) teams in developing a Data Analysis Platform and Process Mining. Your tasks will include

Phase 1

  • Discussing with regional key users which data sources are used and which insights needed;
  • Determining the best platform to use (Spotfire, Microsoft Power BI, …) to provide datasets to the field;
  • Combining data used by the regional teams into various datasets in alignment with FO processes;
  • Creating instructions for FO regional teams on how to create reporting/analyses;
  • Creating instructions for central team on how to maintain tool and how to add data sources.

Phase 2

  • Identifying steps in the tool maintenance processes and lead times per step, using the process mining techniques on datasets created in Phase 1;
  • Identifying exception flows and region/plant-specific steps;
  • Comparing process steps and determining most efficient process execution methods, considering both time and costs;
  • Identifying potential future process improvements based on found inefficiencies;
  • Describing changes needed to adopt Best Known Methods per region/plant.

This is a bachelor/master apprentice internship for a minimum duration of 5 months, for 3 to 5 days per week, starting as soon as possible.

Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, and computer science and software engineering.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.

Students getting ready for real-world R&D

We’re a global team of about 29,000 people of 120 different nationalities and counting. Headquartered in Europe’s top tech hub, the Brainport Eindhoven region in the Netherlands, our operations are spread across Europe, Asia and the US.
