Salary range: 3,200-3,800 USD/month

The role

The Data Analyst should be enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through improved language data. The right candidate is an energetic team player and leader who agrees with Clear Global’s basic beliefs and values and who can work virtually with team members based throughout the world.

Responsibilities

  • Inform and implement Data visualization strategy
  • Coordinate Clear Global’s approach to data analysis and data-driven decision making in program tech.
  • Identify and evaluate data visualization platforms that could be used across various platforms like our AI chatbots.
  • Input into the decision making process that determines the technology approach that would work best for each program.
  • Work with the Product Team to ensure that the data visualization provides an accurate representation of usage of the product and provides critical insights into how its being used.
  • Use data and data visualization to advocate for language to be considered in our programs.
  • Work across teams to understand data processing and visualization needs in creating and evaluating language technology datasets and tools to serve the needs of Clear Global’s tech platforms.
  • Work with Clear Global’s NLP teams on analysis of multilingual content gathered by partner organizations.

Qualifications

The Data Analyst should be an innovative self-starter with a strong sense of initiative, an understanding of the humanitarian sector with a strong background in data science, statistics or a related field and enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. The right candidate is an energetic team player and leader who agrees with Clear Global’s basic beliefs and values and who can work virtually with team members based throughout the world.

Requirements

Required skills and experience

  • Degree in data science, statistics, or related field
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Strong skills in Python and/or R
  • Experience consolidating data from multiple sources (ETL for example)
  • Strong skills running SQL or other data query languages to process relational data.
  • Advanced skills with Google Sheets, including data imports and vlookups.
  • Experience with Google APIs
  • Data visualization experience, including experience with platforms such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, or open source integrations.
  • Experience working with demographic and geospatial data.
  • Communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience
  • Experience in designing data visualization and data management systems to inform decision-making

Preferred skills and experience

  • Working competency in other languages
  • Experience with GIS and web mapping, such as through Carto, MapBox, QGIS, and/or ArcGIS Online.
  • Graphic design skills in data visualization.
  • Experience working with interactive data visualization software and libraries such as Datawrapper, Flourish, Plotly and D3.
  • Experience working with big data and/or web crawling of multilingual content.
  • Experience working with machine learning training data, especially language data.
  • Humanitarian or international development experience
