General Description

Intern Cybersecurity Engineer in the Sabre Risk & Security (R&S) organization. This is not a full-time technical position but does require general understanding of software design, development, or Information Technology topics.

The Sabre Risk & Security organization is responsible for driving strategy, plans, and execution to manage the business risk created by Cybersecurity threats.

The R&S team is seeking a Summer 2023 Cybersecurity Intern to participate in a rotational program across multiple Cybersecurity domains. Working in approximately two-week iterations, you will participate in both operations and day-to-day task resolution in areas like Application Security, Security Architecture, Cyber Threat Management, and Governance, Risk, Compliance. At the end of the rotational program, you may have the opportunity to work with a Sabre business unit directly to prepare and present a Statement of Need document that describes a risk to an application and a proposed solution. Throughout the program, you will ensure R&S leaders are informed of your status, what you have learned, and any obstacles you experienced in your two-week iterations.

To excel in this position, you don’t have to be familiar with every Cybersecurity technology and domain, but you do need to be interested in pursuing or understanding more about a Cybersecurity career path. This is not a full-time technical position but does require general understanding of software design, development, or Information Technology topics.

Responsibilities

  • Apply fundamental Cybersecurity knowledge to complete basic tasks in relevant Cybersecurity domain such as Application Security, Security Architecture, Cyber Threat Management, or Governance, Risk, Compliance. Task examples: running vulnerability scans, communicating results to teams, reviewing architectural plans, monitoring threat activities, collecting evidence for compliance audits
  • Follow process related to designated Cybersecurity tasks
  • Cooperate with others to accomplish tasks
  • Communicate basic information in oral or written form
  • Assist in planning own work
  • Identify and champion process improvements aimed at better business outcomes
  • Bring a passion to learn about Cybersecurity practices

Preferred Education

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any flavor of Software Engineering (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Security Engineering, Software Engineering), Information Technology, or other Security-related degree (information security, cybersecurity, security and risk management, etc)
  • Expected to graduate in 2023, 2024, or 2025.

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, critical thinker, who is a continuous learner, and has the following preferred general knowledge and skills

  • Proficient with security terminology and vulnerability bug classes
  • General understanding of software design
  • Familiarity with OWASP standards
  • Familiarity with the SDLC, CI/CD, and DevOps processes
  • Practical experience or interest in app penetration testing/ethical hacking
  • Ability to handle multiple operational and/or project assignments and prioritization of short and long-term tasks
  • Familiarity with Windows or Linux operating systems running in Cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills (i.e., “people skills”)
  • Proven problem-solver and able to remove roadblocks and obstacles
