TeacherActive are working with a Further Education College based in North Yorkshire who are recruiting an experienced Criminology, Psychology and Sociology Lecturer to join their passionate team on Temporary MAT Cover, 22 hours teaching per week.

Role Responsibilities

  • To teach a range of Psychology and Social Science units, including Criminology, Health and Social Care, and Psychology at Level 3 to a range of learners,
  • To develop and design appropriate learning materials for a variety of learners;
  • To prepare, mark, assess and record students work as necessary to meet quality assurance and self-assessment requirements within deadlines;
  • To implement appropriate college quality assurance procedures and carry out relevant recording and administrative tasks to meet deadlines;
  • To meet quality standards with particular reference to retention and achievement and be responsible for monitoring and reporting on continuous performance and improvement within the provision;
  • Carry out a range of lecturing and associated functions in connection with classroom teaching, tutorial work, assessment, residential courses, open and distance learning cases, and student placements as required.
  • Implement and take cognisance of all policies and procedures of the College and the Faculty.
  • Carry out tutorial duties and assist with the provision of an effective counselling service to students on academic, non-academic and welfare matters as required.

Person And Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area;
  • Current teaching qualification to Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training/PGCE/Cert Ed (or working towards);
  • Qualified to Level 2 (GCSE Grade A*-C or equivalent) in English and maths (or willing to work towards completion within a specified time frame);
  • Recent relevant experience of teaching to a high standard in the FE and/or HE sector;
  • DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one prior to start date.
