Global Rights Compliance

Global Rights Compliance (GRC) is an international legal foundation focussed on bringing perpetrators to justice for atrocity crime. We have a presence in the Hague, London, Washington, and Kyiv.

GRC work in Ukraine in support of the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) through several GRC Mobile Justice Teams (MJTs) who assist the OPG by providing crime scene evidence collection and analysis and real-time advice on investigations and case building. Our headquarters for this project are in Kyiv, Ukraine. GRC’s MJTs operate throughout Ukraine in areas of interest to the OPG.

We are looking for a Finance Manager who can lead the project Finance duties and compliance requirements.

OBJECTIVES

  • Supports program staff with management and analysis of financials relevant to the grant within a portfolio
  • Proactive oversight and analysis of budgets, expenditures (including procurement), accruals, pipelines, cost projections, and allocations
  • Ensures fulfillment of each grant’s objectives and compliance with funder regulations and GRC policies.
  • Participates in program kick-off, on-going program implementation review, and close-out.
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of funder’s and GRC’s financial policies and procedures and serving as a resource for program teams.
  • Troubleshoots accounting problems; identifies and implements creative solutions.
  • Assists the CFO with annual and program audit preparation.
  • Assist the CFO in preparing financial statement information reflecting the organization’s cash balances, expenditures, securities and assets position
  • Assists the CFO in preparing periodic financial reports regarding grant status and spending to funders, as required by contract
  • Communicates with team leaders to get the information necessary to process month end and year end-close outs
  • Monitors, tracks, reconciles, and assist in billing for all the organization’s grants and contracts with government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources
  • Reconciles and verifies grant-related invoices with organization records and contractual agreement
  • Maintains general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and other assigned accounts; prepare adjusting entries for prepaid on a monthly basis
  • Enters daily expenses and invoices to the spreadsheet and links receipts and invoices
  • Performs other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business administration
  • CPA / Chartered Accountant certification is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years accounting experience with an emphasis in reconciliation and financial reporting required preferably in non-profit or international development environment. FCDO fund experience is an asset
  • Fluent in Ukrainian and advanced English proficiency
  • Must be proficient in the full-cycle accounting processes
  • General knowledge of not-for-profit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to gather financial data and accurately create spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Proficiency in financial management and accounting spreadsheet and word processing programs
  • Well-organized and able to handle multi-task in a busy office environment
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and success with detail work regardless of quantity or variety of data
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can maintain stable and helpful performance under difficult circumstances, operating comfortably in uncertain environment
  • Willingness to take advantage of opportunities to avoid or solve problems
