About MAG:

MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury.

About the Ukraine Programme:

Since the Russian invasion of 24th February, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missiles, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG is in the process of establishing a formal presence in Kyiv following an initial assessment visit in April, and is coordinating with the relevant national authorities, national and international partners, and other key stakeholders to address the needs generated by the presence of explosive ordnance contamination.

About the role:

Reporting to the Regional Director, you will be responsible for the effective integration of strategic, programmatic and operational management, in compliance with contractual obligations and MAG’s mission and mandate. You will have a wide variety of strategic responsibilities including contract management, donor liaison, people management, security management, capacity building and risk management. This senior role will provide you with the opportunity to use your people management skills, leading a small team of international and national staff. You will also have the opportunity to use your skills in stakeholder management, to take a leading role in donor development, and working with a range of national and international actors.

About you:

To lead the work on the ground MAG will be looking for candidates with experience at a senior level of establishing operations and activities in an emergency context and that are able to adapt to the complexities of working in a conflict environment. Experience of mine action programming is strongly preferred but not essential. You should also have experience of managing multi-funded projects, with experience developing new business and representation to the highest levels. You will also need excellent people management skills and the ability to manage support functions including HR, administration, logistics and finance. Finally, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in complex political and volatile security contexts and the tact, diplomacy and tenacity needed to lead this programme.

Please note that as part of MAG’s commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed.
