We are looking for our next Country Director to lead our large office in South Sudan. Do you have experience leading large teams and programs to provide relief to communities in need? In this role you will be the face and primary representative of Samaritan’s Purse in South Sudan. Working closely with the Regional team you will be casting vision and guiding our team’s activities in the country. This includes project development, staff management, reporting, budget management, daily field operations, staff support, and implementation. A day in the life of a Country Director in South Sudan:

In the role of Country Director, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Build and develop a team to lead programs targeted to the serve the needs of the beneficiary community and the local church. This includes hiring, training, directing, mentoring, guiding, rewarding, disciplining, and building capacity
  • Cultivate an environment of continuous development of spiritually healthy field teams
  • In collaboration with the Regional team and country senior management, lead the development and implementation of a country office strategy and vision within the overall Samaritan’s Purse mission
  • Professionally represent Samaritan’s Purse to key stakeholders including government officials, local authorities, dignitaries, other NGOs, funding agencies, donors, beneficiaries, and visitors
  • Regularly monitor program progress and financial accountability, ensuring reporting is accurate and proper in accordance with all policies and guidelines
  • Oversee all aspects of country office operations and logistical support to ensure effective use of resources and support personnel for optimal operating capacity
  • Coordinate with the Security Department to monitor present and potential security situations and emergencies
  • Monitor and track potential disasters, both natural and man-made, and keep the Regional team informed of events and recommendations/plans for action
  • Support the ministry’s initiatives to promote integrity and accountability in all areas of operations including safeguarding and the prevention of fraud, bribery, and corruption
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and Master’s degree in International Development or related field preferred with five (5) to seven (7) years’ related leadership and international field work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of international affairs, foreign policy, and fundamental political frameworks within country of oversight
  • Working knowledge of socioeconomic, cultural, and political conditions within South Sudan
  • Working knowledge of partnerships with USAID and other governmental and non-governmental funding organizations
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Travel Expectations: Occasional Travel to Field Sites to visit staff, projects, or local leaders; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
