Oxfam

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a Senior leadership role with Oxfam in Mali.

Mali has been plunged into an unprecedented political, institutional, socio-economic and security crisis that has seriously undermined development efforts in recent years. This crisis has profoundly altered social cohesion, destabilized institutions, and democracy, wiped out economic activity and tarnished the image of the country, favoured unspeakable abuses committed against civilians, including violence and sexual violence. Poor governance, lack of basic social services, youth unemployment, organized crime, injustice and increased social inequality all contributed to the emergence of the crisis.

Over the coming years, Oxfam wants to harness its operational capacity and its ability to influence at local, national, and international levels, to leverage impact at scale by developing and implementing programmes that tackle inequalities and social injustice in Mali.

The Country Director for Mali will lead the country Programme and contribute to implement Oxfam’s Global Strategy and Mali Country Strategy, by providing vision and strategic direction to all of Oxfam’s work in the Country. This includes Oxfam’s humanitarian responses, long term development Programme design and implementation, advocacy and policy and influencing.

He/She will also be responsible, with support from change groups and the Regional Director, to deliver the new and exciting Oxfam Strategic Framework (2020-30) which aims to create a stronger but humble Oxfam that is part of a diversified and globally balanced network. This will involve planning, developing, and implementing the vision of Oxfam in Mali.
