In order to achieve our goal of ensuring that the Congo Basin’s contiguous rainforest areas are protected, and that local communities and indigenous people rights are promoted, Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) has established an ambitious strategy for its work in Democratic Republic of Congo. We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced person to lead this work from our country office in Kinshasa. The country office consists of 12 dedicated and motivated employees. The position is based in Kinshasa and this is a two-year contract with a start as soon as possible.

Job description

Program Development & Representation – strategic leadership with focus on strategic collaboration with stakeholders, alliances and partners to develop and obtain results in our programs.

Fundraising & Advocacy – develop relations, engage, and network with relevant donors in the region. Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, government authorities and other stakeholders.

Strategic People Management – responsible for the management of RFN’s office in DRC, including human resource, finance, security and other administration function.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated strategic leadership experience in the context of development aid
• Overall experience in managing and working with administration, financial management and HR in a demanding environment
• Strong experience in project management, preferably from a NGO perspective
• Relevant higher university degree
• Excellent written and verbal skills in French and English, understanding Norwegian language is an asset.
• Contextual knowledge of DRC/the region is an advantage
