A Japanese humanitarian NGO, AAR Japan is looking for highly qualified and committed individuals for Country Director.

This is a great opportunity for you to provide strategic oversight and leadership to project implementation, logistics, procurement, donor communications, inventory, human resources, finance, fund raising and administration. AAR Japan’s program and operations in Kenya focus on humanitarian assistance in education sector in Northern Kenya.

Duties and Obligations

  • Project implementation and management to the current refugee assistance activities, involving multiple staff, beneficiaries, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Support fluid and timely communication of report management and information flow from field staff
  • Enforce and uphold donor and internal regulations, including local and national laws, and best practices
  • Develop and oversee national and international procurement systems to ensure efficient and accurate delivery of program resources
  • Enforce procedures regarding contracted service and provide frequent evaluation of current contracted services for cost effectiveness
  • Work with program coordinators and other field staff to ensure strategy lines up with budget
  • Closely monitor operational expenses, anticipate significant changes, and keep program coordinators and project managers informed
  • Seek to grow your staff through capacity building and staff development, seeking to encourage and uplift your team
  • Find fund-raising opportunity and make effective and impactful applications to grants
  • Report, communication and coordination with AAR Japan staff in Tokyo and Japanese donors using native-level Japanese language
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required

-Fluency in English and Japanese
-Master’s or higher degree in relevant field
-Good computer skills
-Good skills in accounting/ Finance
-Good communication/ management skills

Experience Required

-Minimum 3 year-experience of project management

Note: Fluency in Japanese (writing and speaking) is mandatory as the positions require oral communications and reporting in Japanese.
