Job location: based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with frequent travel to El Salvador The SRC supports the Honduran and the Salvadorian Red Cross Societies since over 20 years in their service delivery to vulnerable populations. For the management of the Central America programme, we are looking for a Country Coordinator.

What you will be doing

  • Strategic duties: ensure the country progamme is aligned to the strategic priorities of the SRC; define strategic priorities based on contextual analysis and with a regional perspective; monitor its implementation; contribute actively to the institutional strengthening of the Sister National Societies and assist continuous development as trusted, relevant, and sustainable local actors; facilitate RC/RC Movement alignment
  • Representation and Communication duties: represent the SRC in relevant IFRC and ICRC coordination bodies; liaise with donor organisations and other stakeholders in the region; define relevant partnerships where appropriate and which serve the country portfolio
  • Programme Management duties: assume responsibility for the management and smooth running of the Delegation offices in both countries, including efficient and effective allocation of the programmes’ resources and compliance with relevant guidelines; supervise six national staff; support the two Sister National Societies in management and coordination of the SRC-funded projects and assure quality technical guidance and operational support in thematic areas as community health, blood safety and availability, social inclusion, disaster risk management, migration, organizational development; further develop relevant joint monitoring and accountability systems

Your profile

  • University degree (Master) in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years international working experience as manager/coordinator in the humanitarian and/or development sector and familiarity with RC/RC Movement is an asset
  • Expertise in one or more of the thematic areas mentioned above is an asset
  • Sound analytical capacity, good understanding of financial and security management, strong communication skills
  • Professional experience in emergency response and/or major construction projects is an asset
  • Proven strategic, partner-orientated thinking and ability to adapt easily in a changing environment
  • Leadership, diplomacy, negotiation skills, cultural sensitivity, team spirit, and flexibility required
  • Excellent command of Spanish and English (written and spoken) is essential

What you can expect

  • 24-months contract, starting 15 March 2023 or as per agreement, with option of extension
  • Adequate salary, social insurances, travel expenses provided. Part of accommodation costs are covered.
