The SRC supports its partners the Sister National Societies (SNS) in the MENA region for over 20 years in their service delivery to vulnerable populations. For the management of the Lebanon country programme as well as coordination tasks in the wider region, we are looking for a Country Coordinator to be based in Beirut, Lebanon. Occasional travel to other countries in the region is required.

What your job will be

  • Support the SNS in management and coordination of the SRC-funded programmes at national levels, further definition of the programme strategy from a regional perspective and monitoring of its implementation, and coordination of SRC support to response efforts at regional level.
  • Assure quality technical guidance and operational support to the SNS in the implementation of long-term projects in the following thematic areas: disaster risk management, primary health care, blood safety and availability and National Society Development.
  • Contribute actively to the institutional strengthening of the SNS, assist continuous development as trusted, relevant, and sustainable local actors, foster RC/RC Movement alignment.
  • Further develop relevant joint monitoring and accountability systems.
  • Coordinate and network with all relevant stakeholders in Lebanon and at regional level, ensuring close coordination and collaboration with the IFRC Regional Office based in Beirut.
  • Support elaboration of programme documentation and submit regular narrative and financial reporting to SRC headquarters and partners.
  • Build upon community priorities and capacities and integrate quality and accountability to beneficiaries (CEA), Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) and other cross-cutting topics into the programmatic options.

Your profile

  • University and/or post-graduate degree
  • At least 8 years of progressive international working experience in the coordination of programmes, preferably in the Middle East and in response and/or recovery settings. Experience in disaster management is an asset.
  • Proven experience as a programme manager in the humanitarian and/or development sector and familiarity with organizational development and capacity building.
  • Demonstrated skills in program management (Project Cycle Management), analytical and strategic planning, monitoring and reporting (narrative and financial), skills in Business Development services preferred.
  • Diplomacy, sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt to a challenging working environment and to network and coordinate with authorities, partners and other NGOs.
  • Excellent command of English (oral and written). Fluency in French and/or knowledge of Arabic would be an asset.
  • Experience in working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and specifically with NSD initiatives and the New Way of Working are an asset.
