Would you like to be a part of the division in the Department for International Programmes (DIP), which is the largest department at the NCA Head Office. As in the rest of NCA, DIP is populated by highly competent and engaging colleagues, who creates a very stimulating professional working environment.

The country advisors play a key role in DIP, as they are key persons at HO level working with the country offices on programme issues and country context related issues.
The SAWA-division consists of 7 colleagues who work very closely together as a team in supporting the country offices. The division is characterized by its close collegial fellowship highlighting their professionalism. Working closely together to strengthen and support NCAs country offices, often under pressure, creates strong professional and personal relationships. The successful applicant will be joining a division characterized by professionalism, commitment to cooperate and help one another, and is genuine warmth towards one another.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Head Office advice /ensure quality and compliance of key deliverables related the programme cycle including planning, reporting, monitoring, evaluations.
  • Coordinate impromptu tasks and processes in support of assigned country offices including emergency response and organisational change.
  • Coordinate, assist, and assure quality acquisition of funding, management and reporting of grants.
  • Inform and advice Head of Division on country program and contextual development.
  • Participate and represent NCA in Head Office relations and communications with relevant donors, networks, fora, meetings & events.
  • Contribute to internal/external media communication in relation to assigned country programmes.
  • Contribute in prioritizing capacity development initiatives for the assigned country offices.
  • Accompany assigned country office in their regular application of NCA’s digital platform and tools.

Your qualifications contains the following:

  • Work experience and proven results from previous positions.
  • Higher university (or similar) degree, in social sciences or similar.
  • 3-5 years proven work experience in development work and relevant courses and trainings.

Be willing and prepared:

You are expected to travel at least twice a year, often to quite insecure areas. The person we are looking for here, will most likely travelling to countries with less security issues.
The workload for this position is relatively high, especially in times of big processes, such as the annual reporting process every spring.
As the country advisor you are engaged in most processes related to the country offices, multitasking and prioritization of tasks may often present itself as a challenge.
You are also expected to participate in relevant networks in Norway, and to liaise with stakeholders such as partners and donors when visiting a country office.
