About The Role

Are you passionate about identifying fraud, with a great attention for detail? With the relevant skills and knowledge to support the Business Assurance Counter Fraud Team protect the public purse?

At Hillingdon we are driven by our purpose of putting our residents first and are looking to recruit two Counter Fraud Officers to our team.

The first role will be within the Special Investigations Unit, dealing with financial assessment, housing verifications, data analysis and supporting the Counter Fraud Investigators. The role will see the successful candidate work closely with the Financial Assessments Team, Housing Services and other internal departments, collecting information and analysing documentation to support the eligibility process, alongside risk assessing fraud referrals and actioning lines of enquiries.

The second role will be within the Revenue Investigations Unit is to maximise council tax revenue collection, investigate instances of rates avoidance, data analysis and pro-active projects. The role will involve working closely with colleagues from other service areas such as Council Tax, Planning and Private Sector Housing. You will be required to collect, analyse, and interpret information and evidence from multiple sources to ensure the accuracy of the council tax register.

Both roles are full-time positions operating in core business hours, with candidates expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

About You

The successful candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who is keen to learn with experience delivering results in a public facing role. You will need to have a professional and hardworking approach and be able to manage your own time effectively in a pressurised work environment with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Experience of record keeping is essential as is a sound knowledge of IT systems, including word and excel. Experience of using Civica, Northgate systems and Protocol would be an advantage but is not essential. You should have excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing. as well as the ability to handle sensitive information whilst dealing with the most vulnerable of residents.

Previous experience of working within or in conjunction with Social Care would be beneficial if you are interested in the role within the Special Investigations Unit. Council Tax experience would be preferable if you are keen to apply for the role within the Revenue Investigations Unit.

The successful candidate must hold a UK driving license with a access to a vehicle.
