Human Rights Watch is seeking a Coordinator to join our dynamic and growing Global Human Resources team. The successful candidate will coordinate our global internship and fellowship programs, and facilitate consultancies and the hiring of short-term staff. This full-time position will preferably be based in New York or Washington, DC and works closely with other recruitment staff. The Coordinator reports to the Manager for Global Hiring and Mobility based in New York.

Due to COVID-19, many of our global offices are operating in reduced capacities. The successful candidate may be required to work remotely as local mandates necessitate. We recognize that this moment, during the pandemic, is a uniquely difficult time for most people, particularly those with caregiving responsibilities, and we aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in both the recruitment for and onboarding of this position.

Responsibilities*:*

1. Manage the global internship program, including assisting in the recruitment, onboarding and separation of interns;

2. Coordinate the Alan and Barbara Finberg, Leonard H. Sandler, Aryeh Neier, and other Fellowship programs in conjunction with the Program Office Fellowship Chair, and help facilitate the divisional placement process for fellows;

3. Serve as the focal point for fellowship inquiries, manage their recruitment and onboarding, and assist with fellows’ relocation and immigration as necessary;

4. Perform data input for each fellow and intern and facilitate intern and fellow onboarding including coordinating with IT, Admin, and Office Administrators about arrivals and departures;

5. Manage requests for volunteers, including their onboarding and separation;

6. Support the Manager in processing fixed-term staff contracts and contract extensions;

7. Support onboarding process for staff by updating, creating and sending out orientation packets;

8. Coordinate and support matters relating to consultancies, including assisting with drafting contracts and coordinating extensions;

9. Liaise with the internal payroll team and assist with monthly payroll activities as necessary;

10. Utilize a variety of HR systems, including HCM platforms, recruitment and onboarding modules, document management tools, and electronic signature tools;

11. Provide administrative support including processing invoices and maintaining relocation, immigration and onboarding trackers;

12. Assist the HR team on special projects; and

13. Perform other tasks as needed.

Qualifications*:*

Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of two years of human resources experience, preferably with a global organization, is required.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

1. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff within the organization are required.

2. Strong computer knowledge, including Windows, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional, database management, and internet research, is required. Experience with UltiPro, M-Files, and/or ZenDesk is highly desirable.

3. Prior experience assisting with recruitment and onboarding processes is desirable.

4. Knowledge of employment law in the US as well as globally is highly desirable.

5. Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize competing demands with minimal supervision, and handle numerous tasks simultaneously while maintaining a strong attention to detail is required.

6. Excellent client service and support skills are required.

7. Analytical skills and the ability to solve problems creatively are required.

8. Good judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required.

9. Excellent time-management skills are required.

10. Strong oral and written communications skills in English are required; fluency in French, Arabic, German, and/or Spanish is an asset.

11. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a team of talented professionals in multiple global locations is highly desirable.

12. Strong generalist understanding of HR processes is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range starts at $55,710. Human Rights Watch offers comprehensive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, a retirement savings plan and twenty (20) days of vacation per year.
