Synopsis

This role will work in our confirmations group performing duties related to products and crude oil contracts generation, amendments, and/or responses. The general lifecycle management of the confirmations workflow will encompass working well with your immediate team and other our various trading groups. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and communication skills, along with a willingness to learn and develop in the area of the physical oil and gas industry practices. We are seeking a self-starter who can work independently or within a team environment with exceptional interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time one year apprenticeship position based in Houston, TX. This individual will be responsible to manage daily workflow tasks that includes trading relationship contracts generation of purchase, sale, exchange of petroleum products and physical crude oil commercial transactions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Mercuria’s various trading groups in support of front office and middle office functions.

This position would report to the Contracts Manager, for Mercuria Energy America, LLC in Houston, TX, and will primarily support the Houston, Greenwich, Denver, and Billings Crude Trading operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drafting of confirmations for Commodity Transactions governed by a variety of Master Agreements while ensuring accuracy and completeness of trade and other contractual terms.
  • Ensuring timely execution of transaction on electronic confirmations matching platforms.
  • Chasing paper-based Confirmations to ensure dual execution on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate and communicate with traders, mid-office, and other corporate stakeholders to facilitate and finalize trading contracts.
  • Handle necessary amendments and/or updates to existing contracts.

Technical qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills, able to work within specified deadlines
  • Attention to details is a must
  • Satisfactory communication skills verbally and in written form
  • Satisfactory ability to solve problems with a high focus on customer service
