About The Role
We are recruiting for a Content Supplier Auditor to make a significant impact within our Content Delivery department. This new position will report to the Head of Supplier Strategy within our Group Technology and Operations division. As the Content Supplier Auditor, you will audit processes, tools, and operational practices at external content creation suppliers serving the Academic Content Delivery team. You will ensure suppliers are working and delivering to OUP specifications.
As part of this role you will develop, own, and execute the supplier audit process and related documentation. With input from OUP stakeholders, you will also oversee new tool development and implementation at the content creation suppliers and regularly report on risks and opportunities related to supplier performance and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Develop, own, and execute an external auditing program that will ensure processes and deliverables at OUP’s content creation suppliers continuously meet requirements for Academic content.
- Collaborate with books, journals, and digital operations, the business process team, design, and other business areas as needed to ensure OUP’s workflow and process requirements are documented according to best supplier management practices (e.g., DITA).
- Functions as “voice of the supplier” in internal projects and discussions related to process, workflow, and practice change.
- Engage continuously with content creation suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance to OUP requirements at all workflow stages and evaluate operational risks.
- Based on audit results, identify opportunities to improve business processes at OUP and suppliers.
- Report to senior management quarterly on auditing outcomes and previously identified areas of improvement.
- Understand and keep current on operational technologies and processes at content creation suppliers. Identifies and pitches opportunities for new technology adoption to OUP stakeholders.
- Own and oversee supplier tool testing and implementation, including acceptance criteria, piloting processes, and stakeholder engagement.
- Participate in or leads projects related to supplier tools and workflows as assigned.
This is a global position and can be based in either our UK or US locations.
About You
If you have a background in publishing production and an understanding of third-party suppliers through auditing, and are looking for a new challenge, then this opportunity will interest you. The successful candidate will be positive and motivated with a strong interest in driving excellence and must demonstrate the following skills and experiences:
- Strong technical knowledge of content production workflows, tools, and technology. Understanding of current typesetting platforms, industry-standard DTDs, and related tools preferred.
- Strong communication and reporting skills. Some Excel proficiency useful.
- Experience with project management frameworks and tools preferred.
- Comfortable with travel and in-person visits to suppliers in many parts of the world, including India and the Philippines.
Desirable
- IRCA ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent expert knowledge of auditing processes, including experience developing and executing an operational auditing program focused on external suppliers.
