ROLE PURPOSE

The Content and Channels Manager will be responsible for content creation, editorial direction, and channel strategy.  This is an exciting role within a new (start-up) NGO that has bold ambition and global reach. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive the channel strategy and Resilience Rising news and insight agenda through a structured approach to content planning across the consortium.

Content

  • Create, maintain, and promote consortium content for target audiences.   Content will include research, thought leadership, case studies, reports etc.  Audiences include governments and policy makers, investors and funders, asset owners, engineers, academia, society, and journalists.
  • Edit the Resilience Rising News and Insights section of the website to ensure timely, focused, effective, targeted, and consistent messaging and an influential narrative.  
  • Republish content and news stories to align with current news stories as a reference source for journalists and other media, as relevant.
  • Collate and curate the Resilience Rising content library from new and existing assets and maintain on an ongoing basis for relevance and timeliness.
  • Maintain an “outside-in” perspective on world events and resilience trends to ensure that our content and search remains relevant and timely.

Channels

  • Help define and execute the Resilience Rising channel strategy:  physical and digital.
  • Support the management of the editorial and channel calendar.
  • Manage the implementation and use of channels including network engagement (distribution lists, email, newsletters, social), insight sharing (podcasts, videos, blogs, thought leadership articles, reports) and events (conferences, workshops, webinars, presentations, exhibitions).
  • Optimise the search engine ranking of content through SEO best practice and tags, whilst designing a simple user experience.
  • Post content onto social media channels specifically with reference to relevant events e.g., WEF, NY and London Climate Week, COP, Olympics, Disasters and Crisis.
  • Create innovative ideas to showcase work at events, workshops, and conferences.
  • Ensure that the Resilience Rising and partner brand guidelines are applied consistently across all brand touchpoints making recommendations for development.
  • Act as a source of best practice advice for other members of the communication team and consortium and initiative content creators.
  • Support the Director of Strategic Communications with the annual planning process.
  • Be a member of the communications team and attend weekly and other meetings.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Strong communications background and/or education
  • Demonstrable evidence of typically over 5 years’ experience of working in a digital marketing, corporate communication, journalism or relevant marcoms role
  • Digital content skill including experience of contributing to website content, social media platforms and blogs and with Content Management Systems (CMS), SEO, CRM, Email marketing and social media platforms.
  • Strong writing abilities and can demonstrate excellent editorial instincts – able to spot a story and craft it according to need
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English, with strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an agile and fast-paced environment, to work independently and proactively with strong organisational skills

Desirable

  • Journalism qualification or clear evidence of editorial skills and experience
  • Graphic design and website development skills, and evidence of creative flair
  • PR and media relations experience desirable, whether agency or in-house
  • Experience in events management and coordination
  • Experience working in a technical or engineering environment
  • Experience of working in a non-profit organization
  • An interest in sustainable development, infrastructure resilience, or climate action

This is a full-time role.
