In order to meet the dynamic talent needs of the agency, Mercy Corps is using outside recruitment support with deep experience in the relief and development industry.

Purpose:

Provide additional French speaking support to Talent team to meet hiring needs for the Africa region for assigned countries.

Consultant Activities:

The consultant will manage full-cycle recruitment function for assigned requisitions including:

Initiate Recruitment and Source Candidates

  • Conduct kick off meeting with hiring team for each role
  • Include relevant HQ or regional technical support in the process
  • Identify qualified applicants for assigned position(s) via advertisement and sourcing
  • Partnership with Global HR Advisor to ensure proper salary bench-marking, benefits, etc. if not clear

Screen Candidates & Follow through

  • Short list candidates using JobVite (JV) and send via JV to hiring team to identify those to interview
  • Conduct initial phone interview and share note Hiring Team as needed
  • Work with hiring teams to determine which candidates to invite for further interviews
  • Follow up with hiring teams through final interview stages

Hire Candidates

  • Work with Recruitment Officer to conduct references
  • Get necessary approvals via JV and then communicate and negotiate offer with candidate in collaboration with hiring manager
  • Consistent and regular communication and partnership with Hiring Manager throughout the interview and offer process
  • Work with Recruitment Officer to ensure PAF and other documentations submitted to HR
  • Work with Recruitment Officer to close positions and disposition candidates not selected

Manage recruitment flow through ATS Jobvite

  • Use ATS for every recruitment and every candidate
  • Use ATS for candidates’ communication
  • Ensure all needed documentation is archived in ATS (reference checks, interview notes, offers, etc.)
  • Update candidate status through the workflow

Consultant Deliverables:

The consultant will provide the following:

  • Manage 7 to 9 roles simultaneously
  • Update portfolio tracker and weekly report
  • Attend weekly recruitment check-ins with Global Talent Acquisition Manager on active recruitment
  • Attending weekly Talent team calls

Reports to: Global Talent Acquisition Manager

Works Closely With: Talent Acquisition team members, Global HR team members and Mercy Corps hiring managers.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5-10 years of experience with recruitment and talent acquisition related activities
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human resources, business administration, social science or relevant field
  • Experience with successful sourcing strategies for globally representative and diverse candidates.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume and complex recruitment environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office, internet searching, and applicant tracking systems and use of social media for sourcing talent – JobVite experience a plus!
  • Experience or interest in broader HR business partner activities as the role may include these aspects in the future
  • Demonstrated interest in staffing and talent planning in international relief and development environments
  • Ability to communicate, influence and problem solve effectively across diverse cultures and geographical distances with sensitivity
