Consultant, Digital B2B Communications Strategy

Save the Children - US

Background

Save the Children (SC) believes every child deserves a future and equal opportunities in life. Around the world in over 100 countries, we give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm. SC is a global leader in humanitarian and development programming worldwide, working with governments, civil society, and private sector partners for over 100 years. With a 2021 annual budget of $933.7 million, SC oversees a portfolio of approximately 700 awards in 116 countries, financed by corporations, foundations, and major multi-lateral and bi-lateral institutions, including the U.S. Government.

Led by the International Programs division, SC is looking to refine and strengthen its digital business-to-business communications strategy and approach for knowledge and evidence to target U.S. Government (USG) and large private donors and peer organizations more effectively. It aims to create a more connected digital communications ecosystem for knowledge and evidence in which key audiences can access information and learn about our expertise and impact. This includes articulating key audiences, objectives, and messages, as well as implementation approaches and processes.

Purpose and Objectives

SC seeks a consultant to develop a clear digital business-to-business communications strategy for knowledge and evidence tailored to the USG and large private donors and peer organizations that aims to increase awareness and knowledge of SC’s experience and expertise in key technical and geographic areas. Accompanying the strategy, the consultant will produce a landscape analysis, a one-year work-implementation plan and guidance.

Deliverables

1. Landscape Analysis: The consultant will produce a written landscape analysis of digital communications platforms and products of select peer organizations (to be determined in coordination with SC), and their features, successes, and challenges.

2. B2B Digital Communications Strategy Development: The consultant will design a process (in-person in Washington, DC, and virtual) with key stakeholders across the organization to gather information and build ownership. This will include a document review, key informant interviews, and a hybrid workshop (in-person in Washington, DC). The suggested length for the workshop is one-two days, final length is to be determined with the consultant.

3. B2B Digital Communications Strategy: The consultant will produce a written strategy aligned with SC’s Knowledge Management (KM) principles that will articulate the target audiences, the communications objectives and priorities, approaches, and key messages for each audience. This will be vetted with stakeholders to gain consensus and ownership during finalization.

4. B2B Digital Communications Plan and Guidance: The consultant will produce a written one-year implementation plan of the strategy that details guidance and framework on communications products/content, required capacity, processes, and procedures for developing material, and an estimated level of effort (LOE).

5. B2B Digital Communications Strategy Implementation Workshop: The consultant will facilitate a hybrid workshop (in-person in Washington, DC) with key stakeholders across the organization that will discuss the completed communications strategy and its implementation. Suggested length is one-day, final length to be determined with consultant.
