Position Title: Consultant – Business Analyst

Assist the Publication Unit with their business transformation strategy by providing a comprehensive study for process improvement and automation.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  1. Evaluate existing business processes, anticipate requirements, and identify areas for improvement. Provide inputs to improve business process and data quality.
  2. Gather and document business functional requirements from relevant stakeholders and user community.
  3. Coordinate with and received input from relevant units within the Organization on existing solutions within IOM.
  4. Research existing tools and applications and provide a risk benefit analysis for use in PUBUnit.
  5. Provide, design or redesign solutions for business functional requirements in consultation with relevant technical and development teams as necessary.
  6. Complete a full report on possible solutions for the Unit as well as the Business Case for change. Outline the Unit’s procedures, make a case for automation, including possible internal or external solutions providing both budget and implementation/business plan.
  7. Provide recommendations on time saving measures concerning the Unit’s processes and procedures, considering its limited capacity and the ever-increasing demand.
  8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

University degree in: Business Management, Operations Management, International Relations, Finance, Public Administration, Information Technology (IT), IT Project management or similar degree and/or 3 years’ previous experience working in similar position.

Experience

  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, and drive for results;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds;
  • Previous experience working in Business Transformation or IT departments a plus; and
  • Experience working with publications a plus.

Skills

  • Excellent computer literacy skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Strong analytical skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application/ operational requirements;
  • Strong knowledge of international organizations and their structures;
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written; ability to write clearly and concisely;
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in processes and procedures;
  • Demonstrated research ability and report-writing;
  • Knowledge of software and software integration an advantage; and,
  • Certification on PRINCE2 methodology of project management an advantage.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

For this consultancy, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

The consultant must adhere to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Data Protection Principles (IN/138) and maintain confidentiality.

The consultant will be responsible to follow IOM writing guidelines and latest glossaries in all given assignments for accurate translation.

  • The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
  • Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances. Subject to certain exemptions, vaccination against COVID-19 will in principle be required for individuals hired on or after 15 November 2021. This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
