Building upon its highly respected place in the field, and supported by a committed and talented team, PHR seeks a Consultancy – Office Relocation Project Manager.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer/ Executive Assistant and Office Manager

Organizational Overview

Physicians for Human Rights was founded in 1986 by five physicians who were united in the belief that health professionals, with their specialized skills, ethical duties, and credible voices, are uniquely positioned to prevent harm and promote respect for human rights. Since its founding, PHR has built a long and distinguished record of accomplishment by conducting groundbreaking investigations and advocacy, in concert with strategic partners.

PHR’s approach includes extensive documentation of the use of illegal and inhumane weapons in armed conflicts, attacks on civilians, and the physical and psychological impacts of torture and sexual violence as a weapon of war. Other core activities include protecting the rights of those seeking asylum in the United States, the human rights implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, and halting attacks on medical facilities and frontline health professionals.

Role Description

PHR is relocating from its current office in midtown to a nearby location. We are seeking a resourceful, agile consultant project manager to coordinate all aspects of the move. The consultant will work closely with other operations departments to ensure a smooth, timely and successful relocation. Reporting to the COO, with oversight from the Executive Assistant and Office Manager, they will be required to coordinate with several internal and external stakeholders including moving companies, IT specialists, landlords, realtors, and others. The relocation is expected to be completed by May, with the consultancy beginning in February.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop a detailed and strategic plan for the entire office relocation process, considering timelines, budget constraints, and specific business needs.
  • Vendor Selection: Identify and engage with relevant vendors, including moving companies, IT specialists, and other service providers necessary for the move.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee the logistical aspects of the move, including packing, transportation, and unpacking of office equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Technology Migration: Coordinate the transfer of IT infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and a seamless transition of technology systems.
  • Communication: Develop and implement a communication plan to keep all stakeholders informed about the relocation process.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges during the relocation.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legal requirements related to the office move.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage a budget for the entire relocation project, monitoring costs and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Employee Engagement: Implement strategies to keep employees informed, engaged, and supported throughout the relocation process.
  • Post-Move Evaluation: Conduct a post-move evaluation to assess the success of the relocation, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing/coordinating complex logistical projects, preferably including office relocations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, and PowerPoint) with advanced knowledge of Excel required;
  • Excellent organizational, communications and time management skills.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience;
  • Two or more years of demonstrated successful development experience;
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy;
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders/vendors simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Compensation
