Constructions Supervisor (Only South Sudanese national to apply) (01 Post)

The incumbent of this position represents Save the Children’s values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include a commitment to the mission of Save the Children international, team orientation, quality management, leadership development, and the introduction of systems and procedures to strengthen staff motivation and productivity.

The post holder will specifically oversee and provide technical support to the infrastructure construction components of the project. He/she will also ensure that the material and financial resources of the project are well managed in line with planned financial, grant management, and other approved guidelines in close collaboration with the Senior Project Manager and other team members. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • At least three years for BSc and five years for a Diploma of work experience in the construction sector including community-managed physical structures at least three years in the local or international NGOs or government
  • Proven and significant experience in national and international procurement and contract management, including an ability to review procurement demands and trends, and to develop strategies to fill identified gaps.
  • Field-level experience in logistics for international development and emergency programs
  • Understanding of and experience in the project implementation techniques, participatory planning, implementation, and monitoring of basic practices;
  • Proven skills in managing changes, achieving results, and ensuring quality, team, and capacity building.
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure as part of a professional team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including cultural sensitivity, assertiveness, and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills;
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and computer literacy (MS Office and email/internet);
  • Computer literate and operational knowledge of MS office, and other Engineering-Software (AutoCAD
  • Excellent in writing periodic reports
  • Willingness to travel to field offices within the communities

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the area, socio-culture, and local language where the post is located as an added advantage
  • Practical experience in the implementation of community-managed infrastructures/facilities

Contract Duration: I year with the possibility of extension

Location: Torit/Eastern Equatoria South Sudan
