Background

Vétérinaires Sans Frontières – Germany (VSF Germany) is a non-governmental, non-profit making international Organization, engaged in the field of veterinary relief and development work providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to pastoralists and vulnerable communities in areas where livestock is of importance. With support in animal health, agriculture, marketing, and food safety, VSFG works towards food security and strengthened livelihoods of pastoralist communities. VSF Germany implements activities in Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda and Somalia.

VSF Germany seeks to recruit qualified and well experienced staff for the position of Consortium Coordinator to be based at VSF Germany office in South Sudan. The holder of this position will have an overall and project oversight for the project implemented in South Sudan Country Program under VSF Germany. The pay range for this position attracts a maximum of $4300 per month gross with placement determined by the level of experience as assessed during the recruitment process. Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be assigned the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate activities across consortium partners, ensuring alignment with project objectives and EU guidelines.
  2. Serve as the central/focal point of contact for all consortium members, EU representatives, and other stakeholders.
  3. Develop and implement a comprehensive project work plan, considering timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  4. Foster strong relationships with consortium members, promoting transparency, trust, and cooperation.
  5. Address any conflicts or disagreements among partners promptly and constructively.
  6. Identify capacity gaps and support partners in building necessary skills for project implementation.
  7. Ensure efficient utilization of project funds, track expenditures, and report to the steering committee and/or to the EU.
  8. Ensure compliance with EU regulations, financial guidelines, and reporting requirements.
  9. Identify financial and operational risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  10. Prepare regular progress reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  11. Maintain accurate records, including meeting minutes, agreements, and correspondence.
  12. Facilitate knowledge exchange among consortium members.
  13. Any other duty assigned by the line manager

Qualification and Competencies

The ideal Consortium Coordinator should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • A relevant degree (e.g., international development, project management, or related field).
  • At least 5 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in EU-funded projects or similar contexts.
  • Ability to lead a diverse consortium, foster collaboration, and manage complex relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Flexibility to work in challenging and dynamic environments.

Reporting Lines

Administratively, the position reports to the Country Program Manager
