Scope:

The Connect to Success Coordinatorensures out of school refugee youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 are successful in meeting their personal career and educational goals. The C2S Coordinator acts as a supervisor for Youth Career Readiness Coaches, interns, and volunteers. The Coordinator will also coordinate recruiting for program participants, engaging them in the development of an individualized service plan, and ensuring all barriers to goal achievement are addressed through connections to community and internal resources. The Coordinator tracks program outcomes and goals for multiple grants. The Connect to Success program is one of the only programs in the country that holistically serves the needs of refugee youth and young adults and equip them to navigate pathways to career and educational success.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the Connect to Success Career Readiness Coach to ensure youth receive adequate work readiness skill training, receive assistance in obtaining in employment and/or internships that suits their need to maintain self-sufficiency while pursuing academic goals
  • Ensure the program maintains fidelity with its intent through required reporting to funders, internal tracking oversight, and collaboration with professional evaluation team
  • Design program activities and potential areas of interest in close coordination with Youth Program Supervisor
  • Actively recruit for program participants through internal collaboration with other departments, engagement with community stakeholders, and developing a ‘go-to’ presence within the communities to be served
  • Complete Individualized Service Plans in collaboration with the youth/young adult to be served; determine genogram of resources and relationships impacting goal attainment and work with the youth/young adult to problem-solve around identified areas of need
  • Perform academic advisement services for youth/young adults when appropriate to their ISP including assisting with arranging transcript evaluation, providing information regarding ESOL, ABE, GED, Vocational and post-secondary options available and a generalized knowledge of enrollment requirements, and perform standardized evaluation of client’s English proficiency
  • Provide referrals to appropriate psycho-social, vocational, child-care, enrichment and other services identified in the ISP assessment as critical to assisting clients achieve their long-term goals
  • Provide follow up to enrolled youth/young adults at a minimum of once per two months of program enrollment (up to three years)
  • Provide a client-centered model of service honoring the self-determination and personal goal orientation of each youth/young adult
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education: University degree required; graduate degree in social work, counseling, or education preferred

Work Experience:

  • Must have, or be willing to proactively build, a deep understanding of educational requirements and pathways for ESOL, Adult Basic Education, GED, vocational and postsecondary options for client guidance
  • Previous tutoring, leadership-building or recreational experience with youth required

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Must be proactive, feel comfortable taking the lead, and have a great attention to detail
  • Superb organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as a part of team
  • Good written/oral communication skills
  • Volunteer experience preferred, in particularly in youth-related programs
  • Fluency in another language, such as Dari, Pashto, Swahili, French, Arabic a plus
  • Able to work in and contribute to a multi-cultural setting

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
