During our 10-week summer internship program, you’ll join our Therapeutics – Computational Biology team who works on statistical models for the analysis of CRISPR-QTL data and benchmark new methods on 23andMe’s functional genomics datasets. You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills such as handling large functional genomics datasets, develop statistical expertise in the context of drug discovery and improve communication skills as part of a multidisciplinary team of computational and experimental scientists in a corporate setting. The dates for Cohort 1 will be June 5, 2023 – August 18, 2023; the dates for Cohort 2 will be June 20, 2023 – September 1, 2023.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop statistical models for the analysis of CRISPR based assays and other functional genomics datasets.
  • Validate and benchmark methods on public and 23andMe internal datasets.
  • Implement the selected method into a standardized analysis pipeline.
  • Present results to the company and communicate outcomes to statisticians and biologists.

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a Ph.D degree, preferably in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience working with large genomic datasets
  • Proven track record of setting up and maintaining functional data analysis pipelines
  • Experience in developing robust data analysis in R or Python
  • Authorization to work in the US
