HEKS/EPER, Swiss Church Aid, supports projects to combat hunger, poverty and injustice in over 30 countries on four continents. HEKS/EPER provides humanitarian assistance around the world for victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts and supports the diaconal work of churches in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. In Switzerland, HEKS/EPER champions the rights and inclusion of refugees and socially deprived people; the organization employs some 350 permanent staff and about another 600 collaborators on a project basis, and also works with volunteers. Total HEKS/EPER expenditure currently surpasses CHF 90 million.

Compliance Manager (m/f), 60% to 80%

Do you keep a cool head in exceptional situations and do you have solid compliance management expertise? You can help shape the future, from a key position in our organization.

Your main tasks are:

  • Taking overall responsibility for further developing the HEKS/EPER compliance framework through thematic policies
  • Coordinating internal compliance organization, in cooperation with the various divisions
  • Further developing risk management and complaints processing at HEKS/EPER
  • Case-by-case management of compliance breaches and ensuring that cases are processed drawing on internal resources and, where required, on external resources
  • Process management in cases of major compliance violations, also assuring flawless compliance reporting
  • Building up the outside network of experts in specific fields, insurance partners and specialized support staff, as well as actively networking in international and national expert circles

Ideally you bring the following qualities:

  • Several years of experience in developing and implementing compliance management systems and/or in risk management for an NGO or in the private sector
  • You are a reliable person with great resilience and able to cope well with occasional heavy and emotionally-charged workloads
  • You attach importance to transparent communication and trust-based cooperation with your colleagues and with those involved in compliance cases
  • You remain focused in delicate work situations, and can quickly and effectively familiarize yourself with new topics. Experience in different cultural contexts is preferable
  • You have business proficiency in spoken and written German, French and English
  • You are willing and flexible enough to work in other locations in our programme countries, including at short notice.
