Position Summary

Platform.sh is offering an internship (Level: Master 1, 2 or above) aimed at competitive research, to better understand its competition and improve its positioning and offering.

Platform.sh could be narrowingly be described as a polyvalent platform as a service. While its generic nature provides great flexibility to its customers, it also opens itself to a wide range of competition, both vertically and horizontally, from other PaaS but also SaaS and IaaS. Competitive research is key to understanding our current strength and weaknesses in day to day commercial activities as well as to design the evolution of our offering.

As our competitive analysis trainee, you will be part of the Strategy Department, but may work closely with the product and engineering teams.

The duration of the internship is 6 months and the remuneration for this position is minimum €600/month. You must be under an internship agreement through university/school for the whole period of the internship.

What you can expect to do on a daily basis

• Identify and curate the competitive landscape for a set of strategic use cases.
• Benchmark offerings against our own, from different angles, ranging from technical implementation to user experience and pricing. This requires at least a basic understanding of how to deploy web applications to various platforms.
• Assist in implementing an actionable data store to leverage the collected intelligence.
• Participate in discussions and R&D projects, including other teams, customers and partners to share the resulting insights.

What you bring

• Interest and understanding of the cloud ecosystem, from a technical or an entrepreneurial perspective.
• Appetite for data analysis and automation is required. Experience with programming languages such as SQL, python or javascript is appreciated but proficiency is not absolutely required, since competitive intelligence is not only about the technical aspects of the product but also its product market fit.
• A caring mindframe and an empathetic spirit. The ability to think from other perspectives is a skill we ask from all Platformers.
• Professional French & English language capacity (verbal and written). Please share your CV in English version.
• Ability to work autonomously

Nice to have

• Tech background and experience with communication tools (e.g. Slack.)
• Proficiency in Google Suite.
