Job Description

The Community Mobilizer (s) will be responsible for working at community level to support school enrollment, access and retention for children at 13 schools in Kahda and Deynile districts, Banadirregion. The Community Mobilizer (s) will be primarily field based and will work in a team with a dedicated Education Officer for each in Kahda and Deynile districts, Banadir region. The Community Mobilizer (s) will work closely with parents and key community members to support enrollment and retention of children in schools through parent engagement and information/awareness raising at the community level.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform advocate and outreach activities in the areas covered by the FENPS ABE schools, including community-based awareness raising sessions on the importance of education, students with special needs, and access to formal schools
  • Participate in needs assessments, focus group discussions, awareness raising and information activities, and liaise with M&E team for feedback on M&E assessments
  • Mobilize and support Community Education Committees (CECs) to support children’s learning in community areas
  • Deliver mobilization and training sessions on parenting Skills for CEC members
  • Identify community members who can work as go to school campaigns for out of school children, and support the teachers and head teachers with enrollment and retention of out of school IDP children at Kahda and Deynile districts in Banadir region
  • Collect data and fill assessment forms
  • Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies)
  • Mentor/train teachers and learners on PSEA and child safeguarding skills in school based
  • Attend regular coordination meetings with Project Officer, Senior Project Officer and Program Manager in FENPS Office
  • Share information on successes and challenges with FENPS team

Education/Qualification/Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in social science or equivalent
  • Participated in seminars/professional development workshops
  • Have communication and coaching skills
  • Excellent in computer software programs (Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Powerpoint, etc.)
  • At least 3 years experience in humanitarian aid and worked with national or international NGOs
  • Have knowledge in Education in Emergencies

Key Working Relationships:

  • Position Reports to: Senior Education Officer
  • Position directly supervises: none
  • Indirect Reporting: Program Manager
