Collateral Repair Project

Organization Background:

Collateral Repair Project (CRP) is a grassroots effort in Amman, Jordan to bring much-needed assistance to vulnerable communities since 2006. We seek to assist those in need, foster social cohesion, and help in building peace and reconciliation. Our services are provided regardless of background, and we currently provide assistance to people from many nationalities (e.g. Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia).

CRP’s holistic approach involves deep community engagement, where we help individuals build resilience and heal from trauma. At our vibrant Family Resource and Community Centers, CRP provides a variety of educational, recreational, and wellness activities, aiding our community to gain skills and build community. Lastly, we provide community service and

leadership opportunities for people to serve others, which has proven to be a key driver of empowerment and resilience. CRP’s greatest strengths are the deep knowledge and trust we have established with the community we serve, our commitment to community-based engagement, and our ability to develop nuanced, cost-effective, and impactful programs.

Position Description:

CRP’s Leadership in Action (LiA) program was founded in 2018. The program structure is made up of community leadership and advocacy seminars and community service practica. The Leadership in Action seminar component equips participants with skills and knowledge in community leadership, critical thinking, communication and dialogue training, and public advocacy practice. The project implementation practicum component relays participants with the tangible experience of independently designing and leading public interventions that address relevant challenges facing their local community. CRP provides financial and material assistance while also performing oversight for the program.

The Community Leader Facilitator (CLF) is responsible for delivering Leadership in Action seminars at Collateral Repair Project in an in-person classroom setting (at least 1-2 seminars per year). CLFs are required to go through training prior to commencing work as trainers in order to develop a strong understanding of CRP’s Leadership in Action seminar curricula and facilitation methodology. The CLF team works closely with the Leadership in Action Program Coordinator at CRP for observation and feedback on sessions, for consultation related to seminar curricula and facilitation needs, and for participation in training refresher sessions.

The Community Leader Facilitator is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Attend Training of Trainers main course prior to starting seminar facilitation and refresher training thereafter;
  • Develop strong understanding of Leadership in Action seminar curriculum and adapt curriculum activities for seminar sessions;
  • Prepare session teaching materials and procurement based on CRP’s internal procurement guidelines for seminar delivery on a weekly and monthly basis;
  • Facilitate at least 1-2 seminars during the contract period (12 months);
  • Support program monitoring, evaluation and learning by distributing pre- and post-program survey tools;
  • Participate in monthly reporting during active seminar periods;
  • Suggest adjustments to course material and activities based on feedback from participants and experiences facilitating sessions in the contract period.

Consultant Commitment*:*

Leadership in Action seminars run on a three month basis, twice per year. The Consultant(s) is expected to dedicate 40 hours per seminar to planning and delivery:

Seminar Facilitation ___ Planning/Reporting ___ Facilitation Delivery

Weekly (10 weeks) ___ 1hr ___ 3hrs (two sessions/1.5 hr each)

Total (40 hrs) ___ 20 hrs ___ 20 hrs

Leadership in Action practicum runs on a one month basis, twice per year. The Consultant(s) is expected to dedicate 10 hours per per project to provide mentorship to program participants:

Seminar Facilitation ___ Planning/Reporting ___ Mentorship Delivery

Weekly (5 weeks) ___ 1 ___ 1hr (one session/week)

Total (10 hrs) ___ 5 hrs ___ 5 hrs

Relevant Qualifications:

  • Relevant higher education degree required (Minimum Bachelor’s Degree);
  • Past experience facilitating and teaching educational or professional training courses is required; Leadership development and training experience highly desirable;
  • Past experience implementing community service projects in urban settings is highly desirable;
  • Ideally, an active community leader or member in CRP’s Community Center Programs;
  • Native Arabic speaker, required;
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills;
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Team-oriented, with an ability to work with diverse groups of people;
  • Experience of working with refugees in volunteer or professional capacity is highly desirable.
