Job Overview: As the Community Integration Coordinator (CIC), you will lead IRC Washington’s efforts to facilitate the integration of refugees and immigrants within and post the traditional Reception and Placement (R&P) period and the initial resettlement period for humanitarian immigrants. You will work closely with relevant refugee and immigrant communities to assess their integration needs and coordinate the development of an integration theory of change in collaboration with other resettlement agencies. Additionally, you will represent the IRC in cultural orientation and integration forums.

Major Responsibilities: As the Community Integration Coordinator, your key responsibilities will include:

Community Integration and Partnership Development

  • Leading the IRC Washington in facilitating the integration of refugees and immigrants during the R&P and initial resettlement period for humanitarian immigrants.
  • Partnering with relevant refugee and immigrant communities to assess community integration needs and develop strategies to address those needs.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with community organizations and service providers to ensure that refugees and immigrants have access to the resources they need to thrive.
  • Conducting community coordination, capacity building, and partnership development activities with other local organizations serving refugees and humanitarian immigrants.

Program Management and Compliance

  • Coordinating the development of an integration theory of change in collaboration with other resettlement agencies.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures related to community integration, including monitoring and reporting on program activities to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Tracking and reporting on integration outcomes to assess the effectiveness of integration programs and identify areas for improvement.

Cultural Orientation and Outreach

  • Representing the IRC in cultural orientation and integration forums, building relationships with key stakeholders in the community.
  • Developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage with refugee and immigrant communities, including creating and disseminating relevant information and resources.

Training and Support

  • Providing training and support to staff and volunteers on community integration, best practices, and cultural competency.
  • Providing extended/enhanced cultural orientation workshops to program participants as needed.

And any other tasks assigned by your supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred lived experience as a refugee or immigrant, or experience working with refugees and/or immigrants; cross-cultural or overseas experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in refugee resettlement, with demonstrated understanding of refugee cultural orientation and integration.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
  • Working knowledge of resources in refugee cultural adjustment and integration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and comfortable learning and working with other technical systems.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multicultural environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation with required insurance to travel throughout the service delivery area.

  • Standard, professional office environment; hybrid remote, office, and fieldwork.
  • May require occasional weekend and /or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirement.
