About the Position

BRAC seeks an expert in strengthening community clinics for the anticipated USAID/Bangladesh Community Nutrition and Health Activity (CNHA). We are currently inviting expressions of interest for this role, which is expected to start in mid-2022 and last for five years. Fulfillment of this position will be contingent upon reward of the project.

The anticipated goal of this activity is to improve the nutrition outcomes of pregnant and lactating women and children less than five years old in Bangladesh. CNHA will address the inequitable nutrition outcomes of the most vulnerable segments of the population through a targeted community-health system strengthening approach.

The Community Clinic Lead will oversee all activities under Result 1 to improve access and use of quality health services at community- and health-facility-levels. This position will have a strong understanding of how community clinics operate and oversee design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to address gaps in care at targeted health facilities in designated CNHA areas. Reporting to the Technical Director, this position will be based in Dhaka, with regular travel in Bangladesh. This position is subject to project award and funding.

Primary Responsibilities

● Identify proven approaches to improve service utilization among USAID-supported facilities and oversee implementation of key activities under Result 1, Increased Quality of Community-based Nutrition and Health Services, for strong program delivery

● Adapt and update existing guidelines for family planning/reproductive health, nutrition, and WASH improvement metrics and integrate them into existing capacity strengthening activities and structures at facility-and district-levels

● Contribute technical guidance to map and analyze key quality of care gaps and provide leadership and mentorship to both program and district-level staff in addressing these gaps

● Identify, monitor, and evaluate key impact metrics for strengthening healthcare management systems and regularly use data to inform program adjustments

● Provide technical leadership in staffing, work planning, assessments, monitoring and reporting in collaboration with partners

● Coordinate with implementing partners and country counterparts to represent CNHA’s work at both national and global engagements

Qualifications and Experience

● Must be a Bangladeshi national

● Advanced degree (PhD or MA) in public health, nutrition, health sciences, supply chain management, or related field

● 10+ years of experience working in community health and nutrition interventions in Bangladesh or South Asia region

● Previous experience working on donor-funded and/or USAID projects, preferred

● In depth knowledge of Bangladesh’s health system, particularly community clinic structure and government entities involved in their functionality

● Demonstrated understanding of community-led interventions as it relates to health systems strengthening, family planning, WASH, and community nutrition

● Exceptional leadership and communication skills to manage across teams in different levels of the health system, which operate in challenging contexts

● Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively teams, local counterparts, donors, and other stakeholders to achieve results

● Demonstrated commitment to gender and social inclusion

● Fluency in Bangla and working proficiency in English are required
