HIAS

The Community-Based Protection Assistant (CBPA) at HIAS supports the implementation of community-based protection programs and initiatives. The CBPA will work closely with affected communities, local partners, and relevant stakeholders to promote the safety, well-being, and rights of individuals and groups at risk.

This position is temporary starting July – until September 30, 2023

Essential Functions:

  1. Community Mobilization and Capacity Building: co-facilitate and co-organize community-based protection activities, workshops, and training to enhance community members’ knowledge, skills, and capacity to protect themselves and others. Active engagement with program participants to build trust and empower the community to identify and address protection concerns effectively.
  2. Support with the logistics and planning of the community mobilizers monthly meetings and activities.
  3. Collect and analyze data to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection gaps within the community. Create relevants materials for information dissemination.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of community-based protection-related activities, assessments, and community feedback. Assist the Community Based Protection Officer when preparing regular reports on program implementation, progress, challenges, and recommendations.

Qualifications and Requirements:
? Professional with experience in development process and social/humanitarian work, 1 year of experienced desired.
? Strong motivation for humanitarian work, service-oriented mindset, and sense of accountability.
? Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically, able to take initiative and deliver in a timely manner.
? Ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
? Ability to work, when required, after working hours and at the weekends.
? Able to think outside of the box for sustainable community-based solutions and work with an empowerment and development approach.
? Strong and clear communication skills and capacity to positively influence change.
? Able to self-troubleshoot when issues arise or have a solution-based mind-set to approaching new challenges.
? Proficient at managing oneself in a fast-paced environment with constant developments using organization and structure.
? Excellent time-management skills to accurately allocate the needed time during tasks and able to rapidly move on to the next one.
? Fluency in Spanish and English is required, Papiamento and Dutch are an advantage.
? Advanced computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
? Attention to detail during data entry to ensure data quality.
? Ability to uphold the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

? Position open to persons with a valid working permit in Aruba.
