This position will be based in Burlington, Vermont (preferred), or Arlington, Virginia with consideration of other remote US-based locations.

Position Summary: The home office communications team plays an important role in telling the stories and showcasing the impact of our projects and our people around the world. The Communications Specialist will help tell our story through a variety of media and should bring a creative and innovative approach to the way we craft and distribute our products. This is an exciting position for a curious and creative individual who can identify and shape compelling stories and create relationships across the business to support story curation. Comfort working within social media and web platforms will be important, and the flexibility to support a diverse portfolio and occasionally dynamic task lists will serve this role well.

The communications team supports five of Tetra Tech’s international development practice areas including Agriculture & Food Security, Democracy, Rights & Governance, Environment & Natural Resources, Land Tenure & Property Rights, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. In addition, the team supports communications activities to showcase Tetra Tech’s work in gender and social inclusion as well as our broad climate change solutions practice. The Communications Specialist will be expected to collaborate with project teams from around the world and having global and cultural acumen will be a strong selling point. A successful candidate will be an independent thinker, open-minded, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and enjoy working as part of a team. The communications specialist will report to the communications manager and work closely with other communications professionals across Tetra Tech’s international development group.

Responsibilities:

* Develop content for digital communications channels including project descriptions, blogs, success stories, and social media;

* Support the development and implementation of project-level communications activities and products including collateral, social media, etc.;

* Promote and support the company’s engagement in external events and rollout for key company initiatives;

* Assist with graphic design requests for internal initiatives and external outreach;

* Support internal communications for working groups and project communicators’ community of practice; and

* Provide billable support to USAID projects.

Qualifications:

* BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, or other related field of study required;

* Minimum of 2 years of experience in international development, communications and marketing strongly preferred;

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and perform numerous tasks simultaneously;

* Demonstrated effective and cultural sensitivity skills interacting with customers and partners in the international development arena;

* Polished writing abilities and interpersonal skills;

* High-level proficiency in social media platforms, and familiarity with graphic design software like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva; and

* U.S. work authorization required.
